On the evening of July 26, the Olympic flame was lit in Paris. In a striking hot air balloon. Do you want to know where to find the Olympic flame in Paris?
Many people thought the flame would be lit at the Eiffel Tower, but that’s not the case.
Location of the Olympic Flame in Paris
You can find the Olympic flame (the hot air balloon) during the Olympic Games in the Jardin des Tuileries. This is a park between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. Jardin des Tuileries runs parallel to Rue de Rivoli and on the other side to the Seine. The Olympic Flame was lit above the octagonal pond (Bassin Octogonal) in Jardin des Tuileries.
Due to its height, we expect the Olympic Flame to be visible soon, but if you want to see where the flame was lit, you need to go to Jardin des Tuileries.
The location and the choice of a hot air balloon were not just random. In 1783, the very first manned balloon flight took place here in Paris. Jean-François Pilâtre de Rozier and François Laurent d’Arlandes were the aeronauts on this flight.
