In a nutshell:
Paris can be reached by train, plane, bus, and car. Within the city, you can choose between metro, bus, or tram.
From Belgium and the Netherlands, traveling by train is the most direct: you arrive in the heart of the city at Gare du Nord. The downside is that you may have to travel far to a departure station if you don’t live near the high-speed line.
The plane is comfortable if you live near an airport, but you spend a lot of time waiting for the plane to depart. Therefore, the plane is not necessarily faster than the train.
The bus has the most departure points and is the cheapest option. Buses to Paris run 3-6 times a day.
Traveling to Paris by car is the easiest option, as long as you don’t get stuck in traffic. However, finding a parking spot can be quite a challenge. Additionally, parking fees can be high: you can easily spend 20 euros per day.
If you’re going to explore Paris, walking is the most enjoyable option. However, public transportation is excellent: there are 16 metro lines, numerous bus lines, and two tram lines.
Perhaps it’s worth considering purchasing the city pass? This can be a cost-effective option for booking museums and attractions and getting many other extras. Currently, public transportation is no longer included in the official Citypass of Paris.
